Diamond Dwellings Joins The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce

Diamond Dwellings joined the Gwinnett Chamber several weeks ago, but this week we really got into the swing of things by attending 3 events in one week!  First we attended the new member luncheon on Tuesday.  Then we were part of two different Network Gwinnett events on Thursday & Friday morning.

I’m so impressed with the folks at Gwinnett Chamber that I just had to write about it here.  If your not already a member, you really should join.  It’s so professional and well developed – and everyone has made us feel so welcome.  Kim Jones & Pat Brannon have been so helpful – and they are just a few of the great people that make the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce what it is today.

In the last few days, I’ve met 50 to 100 new Gwinnett business people and added some real business leads to our sales process at Diamond Dwellings.  Here’s just a few business people that I met at Gwinnett Chamber:

It was fun meeting Freda because “I’ve seen her name everywhere” and we’d never met before.  Believe it or not, I love meeting other Realtors & brokers and sharing stories, etc.

So, Thanks Gwinnett Chamber!  Can’t wait to see you all in the New Year!

Gwinnett Trash Collection Still Up in the Air

Residents of the unincorporated areas of Gwinnett need to stayed tuned to the news about their trash collection.  Judge Michael C. Clark granted an injunction sought by two private sanitation companies against the new Gwinnett County waste disposal program through Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful.  This new program has been the source of much debate within the county for the past few months and has raised many questions from the residents effected.  This court decision leaves the program open for further debate and questions, which will possibly delay or prevent its implementation next month as originally planned.

Today’s court decision is being studied by Gwinnett officials this evening in order to determine the legal alternatives to consider every possible way for citizens to continue receiving solid waste disposal service.

4.5% Mortgage Rates are Here

I couldn’t believe my eyes this morning when I looked at the rate sheets.  4.5% for a 30 year fixed had to be a joke.  Surely they could not be that low!  Ladies and gentlemen, 4.5% is here.  Now for the bad news:  That rate lasted about an hour and then they climbed back into the low 5’s.  Due to the enormous response lenders received this morning, along with the ever volatile market, lenders had no choice but to turn off the flow.  They physically could not handle the volume that was being thrown at them.  If you refer back to my post a couple of weeks ago, I encouraged everyone to call, create a loan application, pick a target rate, and be ready to proceed when rates dropped.  The people that did, took advantage of a 30 year rate that is lower than the refinance boom of 2003.  My advice is to call me or email me tomorrow at Signature Lending Group, give me your info and rate that you want, and if we have a small window to grab that rate, we’ll be ready.  Please don’t pass up this opportunity to save yourself a lot of money over the life of your loan.

Georgia Force(d) to cancel AFL season in 2009

The Georgia Force of the Arena Football League has been informed by the Arena Football League (AFL) that the 2009 season has been suspended. It has been rumored for weeks that the season was in jeopardy but last week the AFL Board of Directors issued the following statement.

“Every owner in the AFL is strongly committed to the League, the game, and, most importantly, the fans,” said Acting Commissioner ED POLICY. “Owners, however, recognize that, especially in light of the current unprecedented economic climate, the AFL, as a business enterprise, needs to be restructured if it is to continue to provide its unique brand of this affordable, fan-friendly sport.”

This is a blow to all the local Georgia Force fans who come to expect a break from the winter time blues and head to the Gwinnett Center for some faced paced, inexpensive entertainment. The Georgia Force has been in the Atlanta area for a number of years and has had a very successful campaign since moving back to Gwinnett a couple of years ago. Since Arthur Blank purchased the team in 2005, the Force had compiled a 33-15 record and had appeared in three consecutive playoffs.  The team recently issued this response to the league news that the season was cancelled.
