Web 2.0 Changes Real Estate Sales Forever

Today is a very big day in Atlanta Real Estate. The RE Tech South Conference is today. This one day event will showcase all of the latest tools for internet marketing in Real Estate. Most of our “readers” on this website are consumers — buyers & sellers of real estate. So, if that’s you, you might be thinking “why do I care about this”. In the short term, you may not. But, as these technology changes continue to take hold in the real estate business, understanding it a bit more will help you make better deals; help you find your new house faster; help you hire a more talented Realtor.

Things like blogging, video home tours & neighborhood tours, social networks, search optimization and listing syndication are the hot topics right now. Diamond Dwellings is at the leading edge of real estate brokerages in terms of the way we make use of these tools.

I got a phone call yesterday from a friend who has a customer base of mostly baby boomers (many are over 60) and he asked me if this stuff would help him to reach his customer. I told him absolutely! ALL customers are now using internet search as their primary method for research (on all subjects). That said, the way they search may be different for a 65 year old vs. a 25 year old. The trick for my friend is to gain enough knowledge about internet marketing to allow him to connect with his target customer(by understanding how the customer is searching) and then compete for that customers attention (1st) and then his business(maybe).

So, if you are a potential seller or buyer of real estate, you ultimately DO care if your real estate broker is a talented internet marketer. You’ll want to know that your agent can and will connect with the largest possible pool of buyers — and those buyers are online all the time!

You are absolutely right. The internet is changing the world, and real estate with it. People need to adapt, a lot of businesses have no problem dropping hundreds for a phone book ad, well people use the internet more than phone books now.
